Network Address Translation (NAT)

Hello all,

Here is the scenario, I have a computer with 2 network cards. The first NIC is attached to my local private network through a Cisco switch. The second NIC card will be configured with a different IP address/subnet as that of my first NIC. The reason is that we want to connect this computer to a server outside of our private network and allow them to talk to each other. So we are considering using this 2nd NIC to connect to a DMZ router, the router in turn will connect to the server that my computer will need to talk to.

So my question is, can I configure this DMZ router to perform NAT to successfully make these two computers communicate? For example, if the server IP address is 10.1.10.10 and the IP address of my computer's 2nd NIC is say 192.168.2.10, then I would configure the DMZ router such that it would translate the "Inside" IP address of 192.168.2.10 to an "Outside" IP address of 10.1.10.X (Some IP address within the server's subnet). Would this be a valid approach???

Network GURUS please respond! Thanks.
