Question net send help

i recently bought a new laptop and hooked it up to my home network and when i tryed to use the net send comand and it came up with access denied any ideas of how to disable/overide this on my lap top thanks

net send... it has been a long time since I have done much of anything with dos commands... but I would suggest looking into the security policies... Though it is unclear to me on exactly what you are trying to do...

It's typically disabled on computers so prevent spam...

Go to services.msc and start the messenger service - net send uses the messenger service.

if you can't start the alerter service,

(type net start alerter at the command prompt).
Then you can't use net send as it relies on this.

try typing net use and see what it says.

(or just typing net)

if it says access denied then it's likely that your access to the program is restricted.
