Default Net Message

There used to be a Net Message feature before Vista that you could use to send messages to other co-workers on your network.

What is the new way to do this? and syntax?

Second question. If there is a couple of computers on your network that you want to be able to send these messages to..how do you add them to your group etc?

Thanks again!

Their isn't a way anymore, this service has been replaced by Instant Messaging and e-mail.

Oh I think I just found it. simple...

msg

under the command lists it only has username not computer name..so i'm guessing that I can send a message to a user on my network...

Ok it just worked to myself and popped up on my screen

msg username
"message"
control Z
enter

Ok so what's my next step
I think this will teach me a lot about networking.
1. I can send a msg to myself and it works.
2. my coworkers network username is not listed when I type NET USER
3. why not?
4. I tried just sending her a msg and it failed.
