Moving modem ethernet cable from PS3 to PC trouble.
Hey guys my buddy tried moving his Ethernet cable from his ps3 to his computer. When he did this it would only be a local connection and of course never fully connect. I tried resetting the modem and checked over everything in his connection settings that i know. Is the IP address the problem or what?
I told him that he needs a router for sure. Please fill me in if you can. Thanks! |

What kind of computer was he using? O.S.? Odds are he needed to do an IP release / renew to pull down not only the proper IP address, but the DNS servers, too. Likely what is happening is his computer's not receiving a request to renew the IP from the Modem.
