My brother was messing around on my computer internet settings, and now when I try to release the IP address, the following message comes up:

"This operation failed as no adapter is in the state permissible for this operation."

Does anyone know how I can fix this, so I can release and renew my IP again? I've been able to release it before he went on.

Thanks

Check in Network Connections, and check the network card is enabled, and that he has not disabled it by mistake, or purpose lol..

Is it wireless or wired?

Also make sure it's not a static IP address, and make sure the cables plugged in too ;)

The problem is that you have a static IP address. You're losing your connect
ion because from time to time your network's DHCP server is assigning YOUR a
ddress to another device (computer, router, etc.). Two systems can't have th
e same IP address on the same network
, so one of them gets booted.

IP conflict is happening. ;) Therefore, you cannot renew you're IP address.
