IP problem, or hardware one?

I have a very strange problem involving my notebooks and my newly purchased supposedly "pass through" port replicators/docking stations.

If I plug my network cable into the back of my notebook, all is well.
However, if I plug my cable into the back of my port replicator, then I get an IP error, saying that I have limited access due to an multiple PCs having the same IP.

If these port replicators are truly pass through... how can this happen? I can see the notebook, via the PR(port replicator), talking to the router so I know they see each other. BUT, why/how is my PR somehow messing up my routers ability to assign a good IP?

The notebook is a Compaq N610C and the PR is the HP PR1001.

Anyone have any ideas...?

Thanks!

It's definatly in the port replicator. Is there any software that came with the system?

The other thing you can do is turn off all the other computers, hook up the port replicator, turn on the computers and see if they then get a different IP address. You may have to do an IP release/renew on the other computers.

My other thought is to get a wireless router and not worry about it?
