Internet speed on windows 7

I recently upgraded to windows 7 and I noticed drop in download speed. But sometimes it jumps back up. Im on a hardwired router, on windows vista and xp I had great speeds. I'm using the integrated nic card that came on my asus motherboard. Should I buy a new nic card that is compatible with windows 7. Any help would be fantastic. Thanks in advance.

Check for updated drivers. What kind of speeds were you seeing/are you seeing now?

For instance on one website I would most of the time get speeds of 600-800 kbps, then sometimes if it wasn't peak internet times I would get 1mb. Now I barely get speeds of 200 kbps and change. Sometimes it spikes but goes right back down.

Are you sure it's not your Internet Provider? I suggest you call them and ask them to run a Line Test for you.

This was immediate, i went from vista to 7 and noticed the changes. Is there any info on internet speed trouble with windows 7?

I've never heard of such problems. Again, I'd make sure your ethernet driver is up-to-date and Win 7 compatible.
