[Internet Issue] Connected but nothing responds

Hi there,

I'm having an issue with my PC. Apparently im fully connected to the internet, however when i try to load up a web page on iexplorer or firefox, nothing responds. I have windows vista which is a genuine copy, however, apparently i need to re-authenticate. Could that be the issue?

I'm just not sure what to do.

Well, this could be several things. First, check your connection settings and make sure you don't have a proxy set up. Then make sure you have the correct gateway and DNS servers selected. Check for firewalls. Oh, and make sure the Work Offline setting isn't selected under the FILE menu on your iexplorer. It could also be bad entries in your host file... Have you been able to get on before?

Just because your computer says it's connected doens't mean you have interent access. If you are connecting to a router, make sure the router has interent access. Can you ping any websites?
