i need help hooking up my laptop wit my linkys router.....not as easy as it sounds

my problem is that i need to know if i can set up my laptop with my linksys router. what i need is that i basiclly need my computer to be a modem for my linksys router. i have wireless connection on my laptop i don't have a modem. so i have internet on my laptop so i wanted to know if i can hook my linksys wireless router to my laptop so that all my other computers can get internet because i need wired connection. if anyone can help me it would be awsome. thank you and btw im running on windows xp

Why not just buy a modem, get a wireless Linksys router, set up a wirless network for your laptop and wire connect your desktop?

Seems to me you're making it way more complicated than it should be...
