Default home network setup

Can someone help me in setting up a home network. I have a win 98Se machine and a win 2003 server. Active Directory is set up, how do I require the machine to authenticate with the server before it lets the user on, please. I appreciate any positive help given. I have a linksys wired router hooked up to these computers and comodo s/w firewall.

thx

Basically you need to join your 98Se pc to your active directory domain. This might provide an answer: http://yellowbugcomputers.com/techdocs/joindomain.html
However, I don't know if 2003 domains accept Windows 98 computers. Kind of a huge jump backwards in OS versions if you ask me.

Thx, I'll give it a try. Quick response, thx for that, too.

Ok, What do I need to do on 2y3 Server end? Any idea?

Well ... you need to go into Active Directory Users and Computers and add a new user and give it a password i.e. u/n testuser1 p/w password. Then when you're following the directions from the link above, provide the u/n & p/w you create. I would probably go into the properties of the user account you create and go into "Member of" and put the account in as a domain admin for now. This will give the user all the freedoms until you are comfortable with what permissions are given to just a domain user.
