Default home group with windows 7 and XP

Hello. I'm new to this computer lark and need some help to set up a home group. I have a pc upstairs running windows XP and a laptop downstairs running windows 7. I have recently bought 4 home plugs and put them in the rooms where we will need access to the network. How do I set up a home group between the two computers to allow file sharing and printing from the laptop please?
Any help would be very useful
many thanx

I think its better if a link you to a step by step rather then explaining it my self.

Try this: Share Files and Printers between Windows 7 and XP

That's the best way to do it. If you have a spare computer laying around set that up as a file and printer server following that guide BikerEcho linked.

Thumbs up Re: home group with windows 7 and XP

Hi everyone. I have done as suggested by all and am now the proud owner of a home network!. I know that may not sound very exciting but to someone who is not tech savvy, it's another hurdle overcome. Many thanks
