help with setting up wireless router

i have a router that is on wpa encryption already. And it has to be like that, now i have another wireless router, that i want to set up because then i can go online on my ds since it needs wep encyrption. I want to set it up in my room, where i have my laptop. Is there anyway i can hook up this router to my laptop? Because the normal way of hooking a wireless router, is by attaching a ethernat cable from it to the modem. But what if i attach it from the router to a laptop that has internet from another router?

Will it work?

Also this router is one of those old trendnet wireless routers that i bought for 20$.

so if i connect this second router to the lan port of the first router, how do i configure the second router? I want to set it up as wep with a password. If i install the software, will it still detect it?
