My laptop will not obtain and IP anywhere wired or wireless. When it is connected to a network it gets stuck on acquiring network address. I have uninstalled both the Network Card and the Wireless Card and reinstalled them. Upgraded the drivers and I believe I have most of the recent windows updates on the computer. I've ran the WinSoxFix and that did not help either. I have disabled the WEP on my wireless and all other laptops will connect no problem. If it was either the nic or wireless card I would believe one of them is bad, but I know its not both. Anyone have any ideas?

p.s. I need the computer to be on DHCP I can not use static as I change networks often.

you say that need it dhcp...but if you set it to use the following ip address. And do an ipconfig in command prompt, do they show you that ip address?

in local area connection properties, make sure that internet protocal tcp/ip is checked.

are you using a router, hub, switch, modem?

if its a modem or router, whats the model
