Default coax?

so some routers have a coax cable and i wanna know what it is used for

its used for high speed internet from your cable provider, like in my area its comcast...

EDIT--> also if a router has a cable port on it then its a modem/router so its a combination...

so whay doesnt evryone just plug their ethy into the coax instead of a regualr port into the router?
