cant connect =(

hi, i just recent built my first desktop computer, unfortantly i cannot connect to the internet for some reason, i tried connecting it from the router to my desktop (the place where the ethernet cord goes) but no luck =( can some1 help me out on this ?

i have windows 7 premium if that helps (had problems setting it up but its good now)

if needed im running a cisco e1000




if a mod can take this down i know the reason

Have you set up an internet connection through the network manager? Bottom right of screen, you will see an icon that looks like two computers together and should have a red x on it. Right click and choose connect to internet and follow the prompts. You may need to choose the option set up network or connection.
