Can not access internet, showing timeout message

I am not sure whether it is a right place to start this discussion. I have some problems when connecting WiFi to my laptop. The operating system is windows 8 home edition 64 bit. I am using the service of Acanac Inc. Toronto, one of the cable internet providers in Ontario. When we try to connect to the WiFi, it shows connected. But when we try to load a webpage, it take more time than normal. In some condition it displays webpage timeout message. What could be the reason behind this. The connection is working fine with my mobile phone and desktop PC. It would be really helpful if somebody can share the solution.
 
Hard to say, it could be a number of things. Do you get good signal strength on your laptop? Can you plug it in to the router with an Ethernet cable (and turn off the wifi) and see if you get different results?
