Hi.

My friend gave me a DSL router.

I would like to use it with my cable modem.

I have a Motorola SB5100, and a Speedstream model 5871 DSL router. When i connect the two, i am unable to connect to the internet.

I take the cable from cat5 from modem, plug it into the port on speedstream " not the DSL port", then i plug the cat5 from my pc, into slot one, of the router.

But nothing happens? Can anyone help?

Thanks

No it's made like the netopia models. The modem and router are one package. Routers are cheap nowdays. Score you a TP-Link router. Lots 'o bang for the buck. I took a couple of the netopia's and made them in to switches by going in to the setup and disabling the dsl modem part. It sits there looking for the dsl connection to sync up but doesn't throw any error messages. Stout little wireless radio in it also. Makes a killer access point.
