I clean the filter out every time I use the dryer.

yeah, we cleaned out the lint trap every time too, but that's not the part i was talking about. even when it's clean, it can leak into the housing, and send lint into the area where the gas/electric heater is. the dryer we have has a bottom panel that can be easily removed to sweep out the insides.

Did not know that. I have had the same dryer for what seems forever. So far no problems.
