Yet another XP speed up thread

... here u go! -Tweak The Prefetch

1. Run "Regedit"
2. Goto [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM \CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParame ters\EnablePrefetcher]

3. Set the value to either 0-Disable, 1-App launch prefetch, 2-Boot Prefetch, 3-Both ("3" is recommended).

4. Reboot.

It will decrease the boot time but double and increase the performance of your XP.

Note: set it to 3

Hmm...the only thing I've ever been able to do to decrease that is either upgrade my hardware or do a fresh install of Windows.

And SheikZ, the signature limit is 5 lines.

Okay, I'm beginning to believe that it's not going to decrease and that the old install of windows is somehow still on there considering the disk space is lower than it was.

and freestyler105, ... dangit!

I just did like 5 bootvis optimizations and now it's just about back to normal, thanks everyone who tried to help, and I appreciate the posts.
