Default XP and VISTA question

I heard that you can use a pen drive as RAM in windows vista, is there any way I could do this in Windows XP?

No, you can't do that in either.

Not sure if u maybe got it mixed up with being able to boot from a pen/memory drive/stick. Think ive seen versions out there than u can install and use a usb mem stick to boot from.

Actually you can do it in XP. You need to purchase TweakXP Pro to do it though. Its a really sweet program that lets you do alot of windows mods. You can download the demo version which will allow you to do 30 things to your computer then you need to purchase it. But you can setup a 256mb thumb drive as additional ram! Heres a link.

How much does it really help because it cant transfer data nearly as fast as RAM?

Who'd want to use an extremely slow USB device as RAM however?

Id imagine it wud be very slow, interesting to see the speed of a ram stick compared to a usb drive.

speedboost in vista seems to give me a little boost on my 1gb stick. i set it to 512mb. better than nothing. i doubt this, or any other ways of using usb drives will beat the normal ram though. not yet anyway. usb sticks were not designed for this. could be something for the future though...
