Default XP is using recovery partition as HD instead of main OS partition

New guy here.....liked what I saw so I figured that I would register.

As the title states, I'm having a problem with a computer using the recovery partition as the main storage. I had someone call me on the phone and tell me this was happening, so I have not physically looked at the machine yet.

I think you can see the main partition in My Computer, but Windows is accessing the recovery partition instead of the main OS.

Is it necessary to reformat the HD and start from scratch, or is there a better way to approach this problem?

That's an odd one as Windows usually cannot access nor see a recovery partition. You need to have a look at that thing to make sure that they are describing the correct situation.
