Default xP Problems

ok i put pro on my friends computer at work. It loaded up fine and everything ( a fresh install ). The problem is though the computer wont boot without the cd in the cd rom. When it does boot the display comes in 640x480 and 4 bit color and i cant change it or anything? any clues to why and how i can fix this?

Run the XP setup utility again and this time do a regular format, not the quick format.
