Default XP Media Center to XP Pro??

Hi guys,

Noobie here with an easy question hopefully. I am consdeiring buying my friend's Dell M140 that's pretty loaded. The only problem is it has XP Media Center and I NEED XP Pro for work. Can I switch it to XP Pro and what is the best way to do that? Thanks!

backup all you need. format the computer then install xp pro (providing you have the cd)

So...if I understand you correctly...there will probably be nothing for me to backup as he will wipe the laptop clean before giving it to me. So really all I would have to do is install XP Pro right from the CD (which I have). Never done anything like that before with an operating system....
