XP MCE Crashing

Have you ran chkdsk and system file checker on the pc? Also check for viruses etc.

done the virus check but not the chkdsk and such

chkdsk is running now...its on step 4 of 5 and going...

could there be anything else that could have caused Media Center to stop working correctly?

Have you ran the system file checker yet? If the chkdsk comes back ok then do that next if you havent done so already.

Have you tried repairing the installation?

It looks like it has corrupted somewhere down the line

Has it ever worked or has it just gone like this recently, if so then you could try a system restore

I cant do a repair since its a gateway and they give me a partition that I have to load drivers onto...it can only do a destructive reformate or a reformate that saves all my files but not apps...and I can not do that right now because I need everything thats on my computer since I am at college...lol

Goto a cmd prompt (windows key + r, then type cmd) and type sfc /scannow. You need your installation disc so if you havent got one then your out of luck.

yaeh got it like 10 mins ago, its running now thanks!

first time I tried i didnt have the space after sfc and it crapped out lol

i am runing it right now without my install disk.
