yes its possible....but um its surrounded with boot up files, so that means if you mess up and try and alter the wrong file you just ruined ur computer, and i dont kno of any way to fix it, so i recommend not doin it.

On a side note,

Am I right in saying that the dots are green on XP Home and blue on Pro? That's something I noticed once, mine are green.

actually they are all green on both home and pro versions. They change blue on installing SP2

If they are blue then you have an OS with SP2 installed. If they are green then you have yet to install SP2.

No you don't. You may have had it at one time but you do not have SP2 installed now or the dots would be BLUE

Yes, agreed. If it says Home edition or Professional when you boot up, it's not sp2. When it says nothing and the dots are blue, yeah, sp2. A way to change the boot screen is here:

Question Re: xp boot up dots

Well, that's REALLY weird. How old is your comp? Those dots are supposed to be blue... huh... done any regedit lately? Was that from everest? Or what? Press windows + E and then right click any where on the white space and tell me what it says...
