Default X800GT or 6600GT???

Assome of you know, I'm trying to buy a new video card, as I'm selling my X700 and want somethign new. I got the moolah, but can't find anything I like.

So I've narrowed it down between these two cards. The Sapphire Radeon X800GT VS. the nVidia 6600GT.

X800GT

6600GT

Both cards have GDDR3 and both have 8 pixel pipelines. They also both OC good and have good stock numbers in the clock speeds. So I don't know what to get. I'm leaning more towards the X800GT because it's nwer and has 256MB of GDDR3 and is 256-bit, as oppossed to the nVidia card which has 128MB and is 128-bit. Maybe you older and much wiser then me fellows could help me make the granddecision!

I'm an nVidia fanboy, but the 6600GT is getting pretty old. There is a 256MB version of it, though - you've only picked up on the 128MB version.

If you want something new, get the X800. But I don't know anything about ATI, so don't take my word for it.

Yea x800 competes witht he 6800 and even some 7800's, don't buy the 6600GT. I play the latest games, even COD2 (Call of Duty 2) with anti aliasing and antiscoptic filtering at max, and the res at max, they play fine. Oh yea, and they overclock GREEEATTT!

Hmmm well it seems as though the X800GT takes the cake this time. Although I REALLY wanted an nVidia card. Any suggestions on a card no more then $160 and AGP???

Yea well if you want an nVidia (man I wanted one too, but the x800 was the best bang for the buck since it is better than 6600s and 6800s, while the 7800 is way too expensive) then you should go with a really high end 6800 or a low to medium end 7800. Make sure you get a 256M (just look for the numbers 256 next to it).

I'm an experienced Video Card shopper, although it seems as though Newegg is running vastly low on AGP cards. Might one of you make a recomendation to another site that carries a good nVidia video card for roughly $160?

Go with the X800 GT. It's a pretty good card. If you could chip in $30 more, you could get a 6800 GS, which is a very nice card and can even beat out the 6800 GT in most tests and benchmarks on stock settings. It OC's very high too, so it's definately a great deal considering it's $200 price tag.

Yea alvino is right, the 6800Gs and the x800 are a close call, and for the extra price you have a killer nVidia card!

the 6800GS is awesome.

But as far as I know it's only for pci-e atm. And he wants AGP.
