Default X48 vs 780i

I'm plannin on building a new comp for college, im goin to use a eVGA 9800gtx ass my vid card and 4 gigs ddr2(800) ram. so i want to know which chipset i should go w/ the x48 or the 780i? i know the 780i is more for SLI, but i kinda remember reading somewhere that nvidia does some kinda secret PCI boost thing when their cards r ram w/ their chipsets. but i want something stable that will work good for some years to come. im personally leaning toward the x48 plannin on gettin this one (http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16813136047) what you guys thinK?

no suggestions at all?
