Default x1800 xl out

suprised no ones posted this yet...

the x1800 xl from ati is finally out (you may know it as the r520), and the r580 (what theyll actually call it i dunno), should be coming out soon.

anyone have reliable benchmarks? Dont link me to hardware analysis because they made up the scores to get back at ati or something:

There are only 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who can read binary, and those who can't.

there is many more, but I had only that link. Try going to that website and then search for the x1800, or the other new ati cards.

i think they are planning on the r580 being the competitor to the 7800gtx.

I think most of you guys miss the point. Pipelines don't make the card, it's a combination of pieplines, memory clock speed, core clock speed, amount of memory, and, the new factor, dual GPUing (if that's what you wish to call it)

I read an article, I posted it in the ATi vs nVidia thread as well, that shows how ONE X1800XT performs against TWO 7800GTxs. The comparison was interesting, because the 7800GTX barely beat it, and that, at least from what I was reading, was TWO 7800GTXs vs ONE X1800XT.

The speed on the X1800 is better then the 7800GTX. As we can see from these links...

http://www.ati.com/products/RadeonX1800/specs.html

http://nvidia.com/page/specs_gf7800.html

The X1800XT has 64 bit image floating, 7800GTX only supports up to 32 bit image floating.

The X1800XT has GDDR4, yes that's right GDDR4. The 7800GTX has GDDR3.

The X1800XL has clock speeds of 500/1000, the 7800GTX has 450/1200, and this is the XL model, not the XT model...

I think you can see that although dispite the fact that it has less pixel pipelines, it still can beat the 7800GTX in a wide variety of catagories.

But I could careless, I'd be happy owning either of them!!!

The X1800's can SUPPORT GDDR4, but they don't use it. It's up to the manufacturers.

Still, it can use it by some manufactures, therefore it should be included as a specification when comparing it to other products.
