Sounds like a registry problem? Is this in vista or XP?

Try virus/spyware scan first.

To fix the problem, youíll need to edit the Registry: click Start -> Run, type regedit and press [Enter]. Browse to the following key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ Drive \ shell. Double-click the (Default) value in the right-hand pane and change its value from Find to none. Now browse to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ Directory \ shell and verify that its (Default) value is also set to none (change it if it isnít). Once done, close Registry Editor and you should be able to access your files normally again.
Try this and see if it works.
