Default Would this work?

ok my computer has no operating system and i found an OS disk and tryed to install it, then I found out it only works on gateway computers, and my parents have a gateway comp, could i install windows on to my harddrive if i put it in the gateway computer??

i believe it is one computer per os unless you buy multiple license

it is, also you'll find that the gateway disk is an oem disk, it will load drivers for the pc it is sold with and won't work on another pc.

Its hard to understand what you meant. Some CDs only work for recovery, or if you bought the windows then you should be able to install the window using a CD-Key.

Also if your running a better version of Window XP, you can't use a 2 year XP version unless its your recovery disc. Well, only because I tried and it didn't work. xD Dunno about you.

At any rate, the answer is still no. That CD was meant only to install on Gateway hardware, and usually will not work on other computers. If you were to take your drive, put it in the gateway to install windows, you would still run into problems when you plug the drive back into your computer. If your hardware isn't Identical, the computer will cycle-boot.
