Im running this on my computer and I'm wondering if its worth overclocking the video card cause when I'm playing a game, it always has to be in the lowest resolution and lowest quality just so it isnt laggy:

Windows XP SP2
Pentium 4 2.00GHz @ 2666MHz
1GB of PC2700 DDR RAM
SoundBlaster Live! 5.1
GeForce FX 5200 128MB

If you've got the money, id say throw that one in the spare parts bin and get a new one, because fx 5200's have never been good OC'ers....

Whats the point the card is awfull, it isnt powerful enuff to utilise half the features the fx range has!!! Overclockin will only give the tiniest performance increase!!

FX 5200's are junk, when I had mine, it locked up all my games and such, and even when it didnt it could only play BF Nam at lowest settings in 640x480... Then I popped in an old 128mb radeon 9200se, Worked like a charm... Go ahead and spend some money and get urself a nice card like a 5700, 9600, or 9550.

The best overclocker cards out there are the FX5900 (they give the competitor ATI cards a hammering). They are also good cards for the gamer who is on a budget... because 6600 and 6800s are out of reach for most of us.

Fx series pricing

Well the FX 5900's are good overclockers... the prices on 8x agp 6600gt's have gone down, they start around 199.99 US dollars, which is about 20 to 30 dollars more than a fx5900... which isnt the gynormus increase you were talking about.

and by no means do the fx5900's hammer their ATI counterparts.

And the fx5900's are a bad deal right now, considering the 6600GT is so in reach.

Actually the 6600 series are designed to be a low-budget card with mid/high-end performance. That's why it costs about $200. But the 5900's are nice too...especially the 5950 Ultra. :D
