I have one of the crappiest computers ever. In EVERY game I have to change the settings to extra low.
So can anyone tell me whats the most affective way to upgrade my computer so I can run most games on high?

Operating System: Windows Vistaâ„¢ Home Premium Service Pack 1
Language: English
System Manufacturer: HP-Pavilion
System Model: RX885AA-ABA a6000n
BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ (2 CPUs), ~2.2GHz
Memory: 2942MB RAM
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430
Manufacturer: NVIDIA
Chip type: GeForce 6150SE nForce 430
DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC
Display Memory: 1335 MB

Most games on high will require more RAM, a better processor and a better video card. Considering that videocard you have is probably integrated into the motherboard, upgrading that will be a good start. Also updating windows to SP2 does slightly increase overall system performance.

Thanks for the response.

Do you have any idea what graphics card I could get that is the best or decent.

I have like a $130 budget.

It's hard to say. HP's aren't really known for putting powerful powersupplies in their computers so that might limit us. Can you open the case and read off the wattage for the power supply?

Get the 12V amperage. The wattages are often very misleading.

I think you'll be okay with just a GPU upgrade. The CPU and RAM are fine for some basic gaming.

That's not it.

I need the +12 rail(s). Mine has four at 20A. Most cheap PSUs will only have one, and the amperage is typically 12-25.
