WORD password recovery?

i set a password for a word document last week. this week i cant seem to open it. i have probably been typing in the wrong password to open it. i have tried all of my usual passwords with no success.
is there a way of recovering the password? i am not desperate as the document i put the password on is saved in another place where i can get to it. but i was wondering how to recover the password.

File Location > Right Click On File > Click Properties > Change What It Opens With (maybe notepad or word pad)

No idea if this will work, but i just kinda thought of it...so yeah...
