Have you tried removing/moving the RAM around ? Also you could try removing the CMOS battery if its one of those removable ones that you can access from normally the RAM slots.

Other than this its not sounding too good to me.

Also try powering on without the battery in.

yep. tried removing everything except the bios battery. PCG7A2L bios battery is integrated like other sony laptops. or you can refer to Q&A: LOCATION OF CMOS BATTERY | TechRepublic

im starting to think that i should just junk my viao and buy a lenovo.
