Unhappy Wireless network problem!!!

I just bought a wireless router and dongle, I installed it on my laptop and works perfectly, but when I put the dongle in my PC I can't connect.

The wireless monitor says it is connected to the router, but 'the internet can't be found'.

I installed the dongle exactly the same way as on the laptop.

The PC connects to the modem straight away if I plug the modem directly to the PC (and no, I can't do this all the time because the modem is downstairs and the PC is in the loft).

Can someone please help?

Thanks
