Hi All. I searched before creating a new thread. No information on this...that I was able to find anyway.

Here's a hypothetical scenario..... In the house, there are 2 computers in 2 different rooms plugged into a 4 plug hub.

These are wired connections. Now!!!!..........................

if we wanted a THIRD PC plugged into that hub, but the logistics were such that wiring was a herculine task.....is it possible to use a wireless
PCI ethernet card in the 3rd puter? would it work?

Sorry if I sound computer challenged, but that is pretty much the case.
So, it's a natural state of mind :)

Thanks for any feedback!

Thanks much,

Bill

not unless you have a wireless router to send the signal to the thirrd pc.

The D-Link DI524 or smilar router to replace the switch would work wonders

Keep the 2 as hardwired and then the 3rd and 4th could be wireless

Hubs are museum quality devices that are pretty much unheard of these days. I have to agree that the wireless router is the best to use here. They cost like $20 for me including rebate. I just got one recently:

D-Link DI-524 IEEE 802.11b/g, 802.3 Wireless Router up to 54Mbps Data Rates 1x10/100M WAN; 4x10/100M LAN

A wireless router typically has 4-ports (like your hub)that you can hardwire to your PC, or wireless if you choose. So with the number of computers you have, a simple 4-port wireless router will work perfectly for you.
