Default Wireless, free internet?

I've heard it's possible to get the internet without signing up with a cable company. Does anyone know more about this?

I have Clear. Gotta sign up, but it's not a cable company and they have a month to month plan. Kinda sucks because it's wireless. Free internet doesn't exist unless you steal it from an unprotected router though.

Nothing is free, lets get that fact out of the way. You don't get free internet unless you pick up someone else's wireless signal and that's stealing.

"Free" internet exists in that you can go to coffee shops, libraries, McDonald's, hotels/motels, etc... and they have often have WiFi hotspots that you can connect to for free. You often need to ask them for a password, they may expect you to buy something before they give it to you. TNSTAAFL.
