Default wireless booster?

Is there any hardware that I can plug into a wall and boost whatever signal it sees? I have my computer on the other side of the house away from the wireless router. I can connect fine, but it's a really low signal and it's slow... Is there anything out there I can put half way between and get a nice high signal? And what would this be called so I can go buy one?

idk, uhhh get a better router.

and also you could like the original cable going to the router, and have it run somewhere else and set the router up there.

Well, you could get the 802.11n technology, see if that helps. Or, you can get a range extender, those might help....
