Wired to wireless?

in addition - why does the wireless bridge slow down the transmission?
Hard drives read and write data relatively quickly. SATAII drives, which are the standard today, have a max speed of 3 gigbits/second. Most wireless networks have a max speed of 54 megabits/second.

3 gigbits = 3000 megabits. So there's a big difference.

yeh sure i was aware of that, i thought you were talking about something else there.... thanks.

so really should go for wired approach then? only reason i wanna go wireless is so I can plug it in say in my bedroom as I don't have any more room in my living room.... my apartment is smaller!

ideally id love to have a socket in the wall i can just plug into... but it aint possible! lol....

Wired will be more reliable by far. I actually have that enclosure Atomic linked to. It's pretty reliable and very easy to set up. My only complaint is that it's not gigabit but you get what you pay for.

Yes, Agreed. Or, You could set up your current computer as File Share? and add a extra hard drive or if you have one laying around to put all of your files on.
