Default WinRAR

When I tried to open a .RAR file using WinRAR a message came up about 10 seconds into extracting saying 'You need to have the following volume to continue extraction' under that it shows the directory of the .RAR file and it also said 'insert a disk with this folume and press ok to try again or press cancel to break extraction'

the file was 200mb and it happened earlier to another file with that similar size.
I have WinRAR 3.60

why is this?

in the list of files that come up when you open the .rar file, what type of file are you extracting?
