From the Programming put into making Office and Windows, I don't see the Problem in shelling out that money for a half decent office suite. Nothing comes near Office for a fully integrated office suite. If you have a buiness, and you need excel and Word, get the version of office you need. There different types to suite your need and budget. For the home user, theres Works, or Open Office, take your pick. OEM Windows 2005 MCE Edt is about £60. I'm not going to sniff at that, it's great as it runs on my PC 7 days a week 52 weeks of the year, and crashs about 5 times a year. Solid. Not bad when it'll last at least another year before Longhorn is released in 2006.
If a biusness needs the full features of office, then it's likly to be a big company, handling plenty of cash. I'm sure that'll be able to spare more than enough for Office on it's machines, i.e. a site licence.
