Default Windows XP Media Center?

I ordered a computer from dell and after purchasing it I noticed that it came with no operating system. I read along further and noticed that it came with Windows XP Media Center Edition. Do I need regular Windows XP to have this Media Center Edition? Also does Media Center Edition have the same base like system as regular Windows XP?

No, Media Center Ed. is just a prettyer looking version of xp for the most part, however comes with a few nice little extras and such.
