I have a disk of Windows XP black edition here, and I was wondering how good it is... I am going to my friends house tommorrow to format her computer, and thought XP black might be a little faster then normal XP for a computer that is like 5 years old... Think its a good idea? Or should I pop in the recovery disk her computer came with? Is Windows XP Black edition updatable?

yeah it sucks..ivery very slow..i tryed it on my gfs laptop..its not any better than xp.

I never heard of it.

From the Google results, it looks like a pirated version with SP3 and a bunch of junk added to it. I think it would be best to use her recovery CD.

From what I've heard it's a pirated version that also comes with lots of other pirated software like Office and photoshop etc plus serials for all those programs. It's not genuine so it wont be update-able and it's gunna bloat her pc.

it's not that bloated if you turn off one of the features, it's like a control panel dock IIRC, that's what hogs all the memory, disable that and it runs just like XP, but with a bunch of pre-installed software as mentioned earlier...

not really worth it IMO, I took it off after about a week or so of hardly even using it, it was dual booted with my regular XP Pro, XP Vista Style was much better...

actually it is genuine.. but not really. keygen generates a serial thats legit..and you can update it.
