The operating system has no bearing on the ram, you need to look at CAS latencies (timings) and voltages, the fact Vista will run and not XP is weird though.

EDIT: You say "XP crashes due to ram problems" how did you arrive at this conclusion?

if you could get the complete stop error code and post it that would make trouble shooting easier, i suspect you're seeing a memory dump message but that is only speculation until I know more. (A picture of the error screen would be best if you can manage it)

Are you still overclocked? Does this happen when you're not overclocked??

Have you tried it with just 1 ram stick in? Then try it with the other stick? Perhaps you have a bad ram stick.

All Blue Screens say that. Even those that say "Unmountable Boot Volume" which is clearly a hard drive issue have "possible caused by new hardware software or memory issues" in them.

is it "IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"? Usually that's driver related. The page fault can be anything from a weird file system (chkdsk /r can fix that), to bad hard drive or RAM.
