hi all

I am wondering if anyone can assist me with regards to this blue screen of death problem i am encountering..

whenever i try and install the windows updates (It gets stuck at initialising installation) that have been downloaded i get a blue screen of death with the following error msg

0X0000008E (0xC0000005, 0xECDDDB7C 0xB9918A20 0x0000000)

does anyone know how to fix it, or at least how to find the problem?

Bad ram

What kind of ram do you have in your computer and how many sticks? If you have more than one ram stick, take one out and see if it persists, if it does then switch them and see if that helps.

Also you could run memtest86 http://www.memtest86.com/
That will tell you if you have bad ram.
When all else fails...Ham Radio!

I still have the same old HP DV9700T laptop I've had for years...still kickin'
