Default windows media player issue

When I use WMP I can see the time moving in seconds just fine but the movie looks like it is showing still pictures instead of constant motion. What would cause this and how would I fix it?

OS is server 03

thx

Same with VLC, do I need codecs for each? If so, where can I get them please?

What video format are you trying to view? .wmv, .avi, .divX, .Xvid, .flv? Is the video a stream or a clip located on your server?
Codecs could be the issue if you're trying to view a strange format such as flv, or mkv. Could be a bandwidth issue if this is streamed video.
