Heres the main point ok.
You just have to learn how this all works.
It will never be a "do this" for what you describe.
It's time to watch "your options of WMP or.Select Or.
What the hell is this,
ogg vorbis files
Really.

How many people here actually knew about Ogg Vorbis Files before you said it anyway?

And for that if installing Windows Media Player 10 Beta didn't help then reinstalling Windows is the only way. You really shouldn't try and uninstall Windows Media Player anyway.

On my old gateway, i uninstalled media player cause it was an old version 7 on it. and downloaded a new version media player 9.

and then updated all the codecs for it, and never had a problem with it.

Just use winamp its so much better . BTW windows media player 10 is even better still .Delete all the files todo with windows media player and use a program like regedit (think thats what its called) to get rid of all unused registey file and the windows media ones should go and thats it all clean for you.

alright....
ogg (or vorbis, or ogg vorbis - ogg is just a container, vorbis is the actual codec used but most ppl call it ogg) is a replacement for mp3.

as with any replacement, its obviously better...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vorbis
http://www.xiph.org/ogg/vorbis/listen.html

if someone wants i suppose i could rip 30 seconds of tool and encode it in using lame and oggenc so you lot can hear for yourself..but its more trustworthy if you do that yourself ^_^

suppose i might as well mention flac too:
if you wanna rip a cd and not lose any quality but want something smaller then 600 megs of .wav files, you use a lossless codec, flac is such a codec.

LOL! I'll have to have a good read through that later. Bit too late now. Personally however, I can't tell the difference between any media format - its all music to me. As long as it doesn't sound like an untuned radio I'm ok.

All i think you have to do is do a system restore. But maybe since you deleted it thats not an option anymore. Worth a try though.

Just remember next time something breaks to do a system restore first then you can fiddle around if things dont work after that.
