Default Windows Media Center on Vista

Does anyone know if it supports HD, if you have an HD tuner in your computer?

Because me and my step dad were thinking of a home media server to store movies on and watch tv on.

It will be hooked up to a 50" plasma, and I want to make sure it supports HD.

I am fairly sure that XP MCE that I run has HD support if you have the right equipment. I can guarantee that it can play HD TV if you have the right tuner card. So i'm sure they wouldn't have gone backwards in Vista.

EDIT: Maybe this will clarify..
