Ok, well I bought a copy of Windows 2003 Server, Enterprise, and im finding it all good so far..but there are some things I dont understand..

1. Setting up a mail server..

I know you can do it, but if I set the domain to like, @home.com, can I them have email addresses, such as james@home.com - and then just use that full time, and host it all of my computer? It's on 24/7 anyway, so thats no problem. And when configuring mail clients, do I use my internal, or external IP as the POP3 server..ahh, im totally brain-less when it comes to email!!

2. Sharing sofrware..

Can do you do it, i.e, I install MS Office upstairs, and the rest of the network can use it on their computers, without having to install it..

3. Router..

Can you do all this if the computers are using a standard modem/router setup?

  1. you have to own the domain, then using www.dnsexit.com, point it to your IP.
  2. Umm it is possible i believe... You will have to create a virtual drive on the server, and then make your client comptuer believe it is a drive within the Command Prompt.
  3. I'm using my apache, with a standard consumer wireless G router.
