Will a SATA 3.0gb/s work in a sata150 port?

k guys i have an ATA100 hard drive right now..and i know it slows down my load times especially in bf2...but ne ways i have a Intel d865gsal motherboard and it has 2 sata150 port....so if i buy a sata3.0ghz hardrive will it work in my sata150 slot?...also...how fast does the sata150port allow the harddrive to run?...just 150mb/s? thanks!

Okay so your sata controller is rated at 150. You want to run a 3.0Ghz sata drive rated at 300/150mb/s correct? When you put the drive in just put the jumper on the setting to run at 150mb/s. I'm pretty sure there backward compatable just like using a usb2.0 device in a usb1.0 port. It just won't run at the higher settings because there not supported.

Yeah Mattie is right it will work but it will only run at 150mb/s.

uh huh, like a 3Gbps rated drive is ever going to get that fast You will be fine and it won't give you any performance decrease.

Sata3.0GB/s will run at SATA1.5GB/s speeds, SATA3.0GB/s is backwards compatible.
